CARE Mission Statement 2009-2014
The CARE group consists of a team of international, interdisciplinary health professionals and patients who aspire to promote, evaluate and shape models of team and non-pharmacologic interventions for (rehabilitative) care in arthritis.
Goals:

To facilitate research interactions regarding team care in musculoskeletal diseases with input from current medical and non medical research.

To further evaluate and develop alternate forms of team care and team member roles.

To create and evaluate effectiveness of new forms of non- pharmacological/non-surgical health care with a holistic view and with the patients´ perspectives.
THESE ARE FUNCTIONS TO ACHIEVE MISSION

To organize CARE conferences every second year (next in Nancy, France in 2010)

To facilitate inclusion of team care in guidelines for arthritis care in North America and Europe by 2009

To support sessions on non pharmacological care and research on international scientific meetings (such as the annual meetings of the ACR and EULAR)

To develop and define the role of the team in :
Education of patients (for prevention and treatment)
Vocational rehabilitation
Facilitating the participation of patients in team care and research
Complicated patient cases e.g. long standing pain or multi handicap
Pre- and postoperative care
This could be done by co-organizing study groups or workshops
To have specific session(s) about outcomes in non-pharmacological care on OMERACT 10 (2010)
